8 Simple and Easy Ways to Defend Yourself

It really pays to learn some women self defense techniques, especially since there are a lot of dangers out there. Rapes, assaults, robberies, and domestic violence happen all the time. Learning some women self defense techniques can often mean the difference between life and death.

1. Use Your Nails. One of the best women self defense techniques out there is that you can always use your nails to scratch at your attacker. If you are getting assaulted or raped, scratch your nails across their cheek in defense. If you're lucky, the police may be able to extract some of your assailant's DNA from your fingernails for evidence.

2. The palm strike. If you want to learn one of the most effective of the women self defense techniques, learn how to use the palm strike. This is where you use the palm of your dominant hand to break an assailant's nose. Strike the area around the nostril and thrust upwards with all the force you can muster. Their nose will break and bleed, and there eyes will start to water which can give you the opportunity to run away.

3. Learn to kick. Your legs can be powerful. Another of the excellent women self defense techniques are to kick the assailant's groin, knee cap, and/or shins. Kick hard enough and it could incapacitate them.

4. Defend against choking. This is just one of the women self defense techniques you can use if you are getting choked from the front. If your arms are free, use your dominant hand to reach for the soft spot underneath their Adam's apple and above their sternum. You can press that spot with your index and middle fingers as hard as you can. Once they realize that they're getting choked as well, they may loosen their grip on you. Kick them in the groin or shin and run away.

5. Use your environment. There may be things in your environment that you can use to help you when it comes to using women self defense techniques. For example, if you see a stick nearby, grab it and swing at your assailant. Keep in mind that this may not be necessary. If you have enough time to grab something, your time is better spent running away.

6. The elbow strike. The elbow is pretty strong and can be used for some women self defense techniques. If you're close enough to your assailant and your elbow is free, you can use it to strike. If you can, aim for their ribs or the side of their neck or face.

7. Disable and run. Remember, the goal of any of the women self defense techniques is to disable your assailant so you can run away. Only do enough to give you the opportunity to run. So, if a groin kick leaves them rolling on the ground, use that opportunity to run for safety instead of stick around and kick them more.

8. Weapons defense. It is a very real possibility that your assailant may have a weapon such as a knife or gun. Learn some women self defense techniques that will help you defend yourself or disarm your opponent. For this, you may need to take some classes.

Learning about women self defense techniques can save your life and keep you safe. Awareness is the first step. Knowing what to do if you are getting attacked, raped, or robbed is the next.
