House of Ravenclaw

The House of Ravenclaw is one of the four houses of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and like the other houses, has some special features that set it apart from the rest. Students of Ravenclaw are allotted here only if they meet the aspirations of the founder of this house. Ravenclaw students must be very intelligent and willing to work hard to learn.
It is strange to think that the Sorting Hat did not put Hermione Granger into the House of Ravenclaw, since Hermione is undoubtedly one of the brightest students at the school. Perhaps the Hat realized that her other characteristics, such as bravery, loyalty, and unalterable commitment to being a good person, would stand her in good stead in the House of Gryffindor. It is probably a good thing she did end up with Ron and Harry in Gryffindor, because these three have an important role to play in defeating the Dark Lord, and it is good they found each other early in their school career.
Founded by Rowena Ravenclaw (a lady coming from Glen, known for her creativity as well as her superior intelligence), this is the house that encourages those students who are wise and sharp, and have great wits and capability for learning. In other words, this is the house for the brainy. Its bronze- and blue-colored blazon depicts a golden colored eagle, against a field of blue.
This house, located in the "Ravenclaw Tower", has its common room situated on the western section of the Hogwarts castle. In all major events between houses, such as Quidditch matches, Ravenclaw players dress in blue. The house ghost is The Grey Lady, a woman with outstanding intellect, who could not find herself a true love.
The head of the House of Ravenclaw is Professor Filius Flitwick, known for his short height and squeaky voice. This Charms teacher is one of those teachers respected by students, in spite of his nature that is at times known to be quite sensitive. This is mostly because of the calm placid manner in which he deals with his students. Some of the most prominent figures from this house during Harry Potter's tenure at Hogwarts include Filius Flitwick, Luna Lovegood, Terry Boot, Penelope Clearwater, Roger Davis, Padma Patil, Lisa Turpin, and Anthony Goldstein. Among these students of the House of Ravenclaw, one of the major attractions is Cho Chang, who continues to remain Harry's love interest till almost the end of fifth year. Another notable character is Luna Lovegood. While sometimes considered weird because of her perpetually dreamy appearance and unusual opinions, Harry finds her comfortable to be around, and she becomes part of his circle of friends.
